المستخلص: عني الدرس البلاغي بمباحث المعنى كثيرا، غير أن (تأكيد المعنى) عندهم لم يلق اهتماما ملحوظا في تقصيه، يوازي نظيره في الدرس النحوي. تسعى هذه الدراسة جاهدة لتقصي جهود البلاغيين في تتبع هذا البحث، عن طريق التمييز بين التوكيد النحوي والتوكيد البلاغي ومحاولة التعرف على دواعي توكيد المعنى عند البلاغيين، وتقصي طرق توكيد المعنى عند البلاغيين.

Emphasizing Meaning from a Rhetorical Viewpoint The present study is an attempt to investigate the various methods of emphasizing the meaning from the standpoint of rhetoricians. To achieve this the researcher has aimed to answer the following questions: 1- The difference in the attitudes to emphasis held by rhetoricians and grammarians? 2- What are the justifications demanding the emphasis of meaning by rhetoricians? 3- What are the contexts in which meaning is to be emphasized? It has been found that rhetoricians distinguish two kinds of emphasis: 1- The first type is that related to grammar. 2- The second is that which represents the core of rnetorics. The former is termed "grammatical emphasis" the latter "rhetorical emphasis" .The difference between the two types is that grammatical emphasis serves an informative (communicative) function while rhetorical emphasis serves ornament or figurative purpose.
