يتطلب من مصمم الأقمشة الإلمام والخبرة والمهارة والموهبة الفنية والقدرة على الابتكار والتجديد والإلمام التكنولوجي في مجال الأقمشة وتحديد مدى قابليتها للاستخدام الجمالي والوظائفي فالعمل بالتصميم يقدم أكثر من فرصة للإبداع واستنباط أفكار تصميمية جديدة وبما إن إنتاج الأقمشة في تطور مستمر لذا أصبح من الصعب على أي فرد الوصول بسهولة إلى تصميمات تتناسب ووفرة الأقمشة المنتجة لأن لكل قماش خواص ومميزات خاصة به من حيث الخامة، الاستخدامية، الوظائفية التي تظهر جمالية التصميم، هنا يأتي دور وفاعلية أنظمة التصميم بالعلاقة مع أسس وعناصر التصميم لإظهار الجوانب الجمالية والوظائفية والبيئية والزمان والمكان مع الديمومة والتطلع للأفضل من خلال العلم والمعرفة وتوظيف التقنيات الحديثة لرسم خريطة القبول باختيار التصميم الملائم لكل قماش بالعلاقة مع الخامة النسيجية. النظام التصميمي للشكل الخارجي مختلفا عن النظام التصميمي للهيئة الداخلية، ولكن هذا لا يعني إلغاء وجود علاقة ترابطية بل وحتى مشروطة في تحقيق نظام تصميمي يربط الخارج بالداخل إلا أن لكل حالة تصميمية نظام خاص ومشترط يتفق مع هيئتها ووظائفها، فنظام الخارج هو ضرورة حتمية وظيفية وأدائية وجمالية كذلك نظام الداخل هو أيضا في ضرورة حتمية وظيفية وأدائية وجمالية ولكنها جميعها تخضع لمبادئ علمية وفنية تتحكم في تكوين نظامه لأن الخارج يكون أحيانا هو المحرك للمنتج التصميمي. إضافة إلى مشكلة وأهمية البحث فقد أحتوى البحث على الإطار النظري وبثلاث مباحث، ففي المبحث الأول تم الحديث عن النظام التصميمي كقاعدة منهجية للاشتغال، أما المبحث الثاني فشمل عناصر وأسس التصميم، والنظام البنائي للتصميم والأسس الإنشائية للتصميم، أما المبحث الثالث فتم فيه التعرف علي الخامات الدلخلة في صناعة الأقمشة وتأثيرها علي المنتج النهائي لتصميم الأقمشة، كما تضمن البحث على النتائج ومناقشتها وكذلك التوصيات، كما احتوى البحث في النهاية على المصادر العلمية التي استند الباحث عليها في بحثه.
