يهدف هذا البحث إلى قياس محددات التنمية المالية في الاقتصاد المصري خلال الفترة (1970- 2011)، وذلك باستخدام أسلوب التكامل المشترك Cointegration، وقد استخدمت الدراسة مؤشرين للتنمية المالية، الأول: Domestic credit to provided by banking sector والثاني: Domestic credit to private sector، وقد وجدت الدراسة علاقة طويلة الأجل بين متغيرات الدراسة. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى أن المحددات الرئيسية للتنمية المالية في الاقتصاد المصري هي النمو الاقتصادي، والتضخم، والاستثمار، وانفتاح الاقتصاد القومي على العالم الخارجي، وكثافة السكان. وتشير نتائج الدراسة إلى أن الانفتاح على العالم الخارجي، والاستثمار، وكثافة السكان له تأثير إيجابي ومعنوي على التنمية المالية، أما بالنسبة للتضخم والنمو الاقتصادي فله تأثير سلبي ومعنوي على التنمية المالية. وبالتالي تقترح نتائج البحث على الحكومة المصرية تبني سياسات من شأنها استكمال إصلاح القطاع المالي المصري وذلك لتحقيق متطلبات التنمية المالية
This paper investigates the detenninants of financial development in the Egyptian economy during the period (1970-2011) using time series data and cointegration analysis. We use two indicators of financial development to establish robustness of our findings. The used measures are domestic credit to private sector and domestic credit provided by banking sector. The results indicate that there is a long-run cointegrating relationship among the variables. Economic growth, inflation, Investment, trade openness, and population density are the main determinants of financial development in the Egyptian economy .The results reveal that trade openness, investment, and population density have positive and significant effect on financial development, while inflation and economic growth have a negative and significant effect on the financial development. These results suggest that Egyptian government should reform the Egyptian financial sector.
