المستخلص: This thesis has intended to put forward a profound study which would contribute to the linguistic heritage of Arabic language. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction into the following axes: The first is concerned with the emphasis in linguistic and semantic dictionaries; The second is concerned with the lexical emphasis in grammarian’s terminologies; and the third is concerned with the lexical emphasis in rhetorician’s terminologies. The second chapter, which is entitled: “Means of lexical emphasis in Al-Certified Bukhari”, is divided into mono-lexical emphasis and Poly-lexical emphasis. The third chapter, which is entitled: “The Purposes of lexical Emphasis in Al-Certified Bukhari”, de contextualizes these purposes with exemplifications. The fourth chapter aims at studying the rhetoric of lexical emphasis in Al-Bukhari. The fifth chapter includes the conclusions, the most important ones are: • Lexical emphasis is utilized only with important matters. The Prophet’s style is so effective that it can easily influence hearer’s mind and feelings. Therefore, it can easily achieve the desired goals. • Lexical emphasis alone can not convey a complete meaning comprehensive meaning is deduced from the context of complete Hadeeth. However, lexical emphasis draws hearer’s attention, gives him a warning, etc. • The Study also tackled rhetorical pictures, such as metaphors and metonomies. These pictures are persuasive means and effects which aim at fixing the required intention in hearer’s mind.
