This study discussed all types of conversion in the verbal sentence, applying that on the Quranic text, especially in surat Al-cImrān. This study revealed the role of conversion in the verbal sentence; it also revealed the reality of changes made to the verbal sentence in its deep structure. The generating sentence, as it's already known, is free from any conversion elements, while the conversion sentence is what occurred to it of all types of conversion, i.e., move, deletion, addition, breaking the grammatical rule, or ultra-synthetic conversion. This study aims at discussing the verbal sentence and its elements, and the ranks of these elements in the verbal sentence. The researcher reviewed the mandatory and optional conversions, by applying them on the verbal sentence in the holy Qur'an. The researcher concluded to that, what the converting generating theory brought, in its latter image, of conversion rules, does not differ than what the ancient Arab grammarians said, except the difference in terminology between what the ancients have said and what is spread in the conversion generating theory. Also, the conversion, in all of its types, has a function in building the sentence in the holy Qur'an, and is directly connected with the indication. The converting generating method in this study with the descriptive method in a major point, which is the description of generating elements of the external structure as they are, but the conversion method emphasizes on justifying the presence of the elements in a specific system and relates them to the meaning. |
