In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesised using laser ablation in liquid (LAL). A titanium target was immersed in water and irradiated using a 1064 nm laser. The as-prepared sample were characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicate that the average size of TiO2 NPs is 50.76±3.42 nm and the shape of NPs was found to spherical. In addition, the effect of laser parameters on the NPs size was also studied including the effect of irradiation time, laser power, surfactants, laser fluence, and laser wavelength. Secondary Laser Irradiation (SLI) technique was used to study the size reduction of TiO2 NPs size. As TiO2 is a common photocatalyst, the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 NPs was evaluated via the degradation of Rhodamine B in aqueous solution under Mercury-Xenon Hg (Xe) lamp irradiation. The degradation of Rhodamine B was examined by UV-vis spectroscopy. The effect of TiO2 NPs size on the photocatalytic activity was also investigated. The photocatalytic activity increased with decreasing TiO2 NPs size
