| 520 | |b Effect of technical Pesticides Cypermethrin 11% Malathion 95%, pirimiphos-methyl 90.5% and Carbofuran on Chrysoperla carnea Stephens eggs and first instars larvae, piers brassicae L. larvae, Myzus persicae Sulzer and Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) adults were studied in laboratory and semi-field experiments. A comparison of selectivity values of the natural prey vs Chrysoperla carnea eggs and first instar larvae for 2 and 24 hours exposure to 24 hours old residual films, showed that the tested pesticides were relatively more selective against the prey. \ The results of semi-field cage study showed that a pesticide treatment followed by the release of Chrysoperla carnea one-day old first instar larvae gave a good control and suppressed aphid population growth. The use of combinaton of pesticide treatment and predator release gave good control than using pesticides or predator alone. Chrysoperla carnea showed high tolerance to candidate pesticides and with the high voracity of the larvae gave the predator the advantage as a good biological control agent to be used in IPM program, especially for preys with high reproductive potentiality like aphids and whiteflies | ||
