تقدم هذه الدراسة كشف حساب للمقاومة الفلسطينية بين عامي1967-1987، بشقيها الشعبي المدني، و العسكري المسلح، وأهم ما حققته من إنجازات، ووقعت فيه من إخفاقات، وأثرها على المحتل الإسرائيلي. إلى جانب تقديم دراسة للمراحل المتتابعة التي مرت بها المقاومة، بدءا بالشعبية السلمية، وانتهاء بالتحدي المدهش الذي أبرزه المقاومون للظروف القاهرة التي واجهتهم، علما بأن المقاومة بدأت بالحجر و المقلاع، و انتقلت إلى السكين، ورافقتها إدارة إعلامية وثقافية، إلى أن اختطت طريق العمل المسلح عبر عمليات إطلاق النار و الكمائن المسلحة، ووصلت إلى حرب "صراع الأدمغة" مع الاحتلال، وشكلت جميعها أزمة حقيقية للكيان الإسرائيلي برمته. كما تسعى الدراسة إلى إظهار الخطر الذي شكلته المقاومة على الاحتلال، وما أحدثته من "هزة أرضية" تمثلت بطرح السؤال المصيري المتعلق بالتهديد الذي أنتجته عملياتها، وإبراز مدى أزمة الجيش الإسرائيلي في مواجهته لها، وتوضيحها لفشل مواجهتها، وإخفاق الإجراءات التي اتخذت لقمعها. مع الإشارة إلى الأساليب التي استخدمتها المقاومة لمواجهة الإجراءات الإسرائيلية، ومراحل الإبداع التي اتسمت بها على جميع المستويات الشعبية والتنظيمية والعسكرية، مع مقارنة ميدانية لأبرز التطورات التي واكبت مسيرتها في مختلف مراحلها.
