This study aimed to investigate the effect of training the sixth grade students in Deir Alla Directorate of Education on a training program based on Polya's steps to solve a mathematical problem and explore the students' ability to solve Arithmetic problems. However, the study tried to answer the following questions: 1- Is there a significant difference (α = 0, 01) between the average of the experimental group and the control group in the items of the achievement test concerning the skill to define the requirements of the mathematical problem? 2- Is there a significant difference (α = 0, 01) between the average of the experimental group and the control group in the items of the achievement test concerning the skill to define the extra requirements for the mathematical problem? 3- Is there a significant difference (α = 0, 01) between the average of the marks of the experimental group and the control group in the items of the achievement test in the ability to solve the mathematical problem? 4- Is there a significant difference (α = 0, 01) between the average of the marks of the experimental and control group in the items of the achievement test related to the skill to define the number and type of the required operations for solving a mathematical problem? The sample of the study consisted of ( 101) sixth grade students in Dier Alla Directorate of Education , who were chosen intentionally to facilitate the study application because the researcher works, in the area.Accordingly, the sample was divided into two groups: (1) - The experimental group which included (50) students from Tel Al-Raml Basic School for Boys. (2) - The Control Group which was chosen from Khuzma Basic School for Boys and consisted of (51) students .Both groups were of the same social, economic and cultural levels according to the school records . For equality purposes, the researcher calculated the means and standard deviations for the students' grades of both groups in mathematics for the first semester, and used (t-test) to insure that there was no significant
