يتناول البحث قضية هامة جداً شغلت النقاد القدامى والمحدثين منذ عصور مديدة، ألا وهي قضية التأويل، وقد خصص هذا البحث عند الجرجاني تحديداً من خلال كتابيه (أسرار البلاغة، ودلائل الإعجاز)، مع توضيح أهم القضايا النقدية التي تجلت فيها النزاعة الكلامية، وخاصة فيما أخذ الجرجاني عن الأشاعرة من قضية تأثير الكلام، والمقصود به التأويل الذي يعد منتجاً كلامياً بالدرجة الأولى. وقد قسمت الدراسة، إلى القضية الرئيسية وهي التأويل، وآراء بعض القدماء في ذلك، وكيف كان الجرجاني يفصل بين التأويل والتأول، ويرى بأن هنالك اختلاف عقلي ومنطقي، ثم أخذت أشكال التأويل البلاغي عنده، مثل تأويل الشبيه وكيفية تقسيمه إلى نوعين، ثم الحديث عن التشبيه التمثيلي، وقضية تأويل المجاز والاستعارة وكيف يفرق الجرجاني بينهما.

This study was divided to the main issue which is Interpretation and Carpathians' thoughts about its meaning; the way "Algorgani” distinguished between Interpretation and Exegesis showing a mental and logical difference between them. Finally this research also covers Algorgani's forms of rhetorical interpretation such as the interpretation of metaphor, analogy representative, trope and metaphor and how he separates between them.
