هدفت هذه الدراسة الوقوف إلى تعريف الغذاء؛ باعتباره أساسا لحيـاة الإنـسان ونموه منذ كونه جنينا في بطن أمه مرورا بكل مراحل حياته وحتى موته، إذ من الغـذاء ينبني الجسم وأنسجته وأعضاؤه وأجهزته، ويتم تعويضه عما يفقده من أنسجة، كما يقـوم الغذاء بتزويد الجسم بالطاقة التي تمكنه من الحركة والنشاط والجري والعمل. ومن يتتبع نصوص القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية يجد أن الغذاء مرتبط بأحد أهم الضرورات الخمس وهي حفظ النفس، ومن هنا كان اهتمام الإسلام بالغذاء اهتماما كبيرا، فأباح الطيبات وحرم الخبائث، ونهى عن كل ما يلحق ضررا بصحة الإنسان، كما واهـتم بجودة إنتاج الغذاء وسلامته؛ وكل ذلك من أجل الحفاظ على النفس البشرية. وقد أتت هذه الدراسة لتبيان الأحكام الشرعية المتعلقة: بجودة إنتـاج الغـذاء ورقابته ووسائل حفظه وسلامته. \
