Cotton fabric was printed with four different functional reactive dyes in presence of urea, thiourea, potassium thiocyanate, for tracing their effectiveness on the dye fixation. The action of thiourea on dye fixation was found to be similar to that of urea irrespective of effective conc., 40 g / kg for thiourea and 100 g / kg for urea. Addition of (20 g / kg) potassium thiocyanate into the printing paste was found to increase the colour strength of the prints by about 13 - 17 %. The acceleration action of urea / potassium thiocyanate mixture resulted in decreasing steaming time to about 5 nun. only at minimum steaming temperature (105 C). |
