At least since the 1990 publication of Seng's The fifth Discipline the concept of the learning organisation (LO) has been promoted as a way to restructure organisations to meet the challenges its facing. We explore some of the themes that have emerged in the literature and the contributors of key thinkers like Donald Schon and Peter Senge. This article tries to highlight the connection between knowledge and learning, innovation and performance which allows the organisation to better capitalize on its knowledge resources in a systematic way through a knowledge strategy.
