|b This empirical investigation examines the relationship between the performance appraisal system and trainers’ job satisfaction in Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in Saudi Arabia. Data was collected from 357 trainers from five Technical Colleges in the Western region of Saudi Arabia, using three instruments: modified version of the Schofield (2006) questionnaire; a demographic questionnaire developed by the researcher; and the Mohrman-Cooke-Mohrman (1978) model of Job Satisfaction Scale. The results indicate a significant relationship between the respondent’s perception of the performance appraisal process and practices with respect to their job satisfaction. The results show that total mean score of trainers perceptions of the performance appraisal system and practices is (3.53). Furthermore, the results of the correlational analysis between trainers perception of the performance appraisal process and practices scores and the overall job satisfaction (r = .461). This indicates that the more efficient the performance appraisal process and practices, the higher the degree of self-reported job satisfaction. A greater degree of extrinsic job satisfaction was reported when trainers perception of the performance appraisal process and practices fell within the efficient communication and attitude toward the appraisers (r = .441). The greater degree of total job satisfaction was reported when trainers percepiion of the performance appraisal process and practices fell within the awareness of performance measures, and outcomes (r = 0.446). On the other hand, the result of the correlational analysis between trainers perception of the performance appraisal process and practices dimensions scores and intrinsic job satisfaction were (r = .396), was statistically significant, but not as strongly correlated
