Controversial Issues of Translation

المستخلص:	This paper addresses itself, to the subject of the relationship between linguistics and translation. It also sheds light on some other relevant issues of translation like theories of translation, the science of translation and whether translation is an art or science. The paper has surveyed the views of the prominent scholars in translation about these titles. It has arrived to the fact that most of these issues of translation are almost debatable and no agreed upon answer is given to most of them. But the question of whether or not translation is part of linguistics is undebatable as most of the scholars mentioned in this paper agree that translation is part of linguistics since its subject matter is language itself.
