The Use of Birmingham Model in analysis the conversation of Iraqi students

تلعب مهارة المحادثة في الوقت الحاضر دورا مهما في تدريس اللغة الإنكليزية كلغة أجنبية لان استعمال اللغة الإنكليزية محدود جدا في الصف لتطوير السعة الاتصالية لمتعلمي اللغة الإنكليزية والمقيدين بصيغ معينة لغرض التدريب والتحدث. لتحقيق هذه الأهداف، فرض الباحثين فرضية تشير بأن نموذج برمنكهام يمكن تطبيقه كاملا على تحدث الطلاب العراقيين في اصف. تتكون العينة من 58 طالبة جامعية وباستخدام نموذج برمنكهام في تحليل البيانات باستخدام صيغة (البدء، الإجابة، التغذية الراجعة) في التحليل. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة بأن نموذج برمنكهام لا يمكن ان يطبق بصورة كاملة في التحليل باستخدام (البدء، الإجابة، التغذية الراجعة) وان هناك توازنا بين دور الأستاذ ودور الطلاب في أداء الفعاليات الصفية. Nowadays conversation skill plays an important role in teaching English as a foreign Language because Foreign Language classroom is very limited in its environment to develop the communicative competence of the English Language learners. The students were exposed and presented by restricted patterns to practice and produce. To fulfill the aims of the study, the researcher adopted a hypothesis which indicates that Birmingham model can be applied fully on Iraqi students conversation in the classroom. The sample of present study consist of 28 students from third year college students , and Birmingham model is adopted to analyze the Data by using Initiation , Response , feedback (IRF) structure . The findings of this study reveal that BM does not fit completely in analyzing the IRF structure and there is a balance between the instructor’s role and the students’ role to manage the classroom activity. |
