With the recent rapid progress of computer technology, researchers have attempted to adopt pedagogical software to enhance the learning performance of students. Improving the quality of learning in science subjects, such as chemistry, is affected by the computer technology increasingly. It is difficult for the students to understand some concepts related to chemistry. Using computer based learning systems with their facilities such as graphics, color, sound, links, and so on can be considered as an attractive factors for young pupils. Also simulations of processes and experiments allow students to explore concepts in new ways and enabling students to become self-directed learners. In chemistry, interactive visualization programs give students vastly improved opportunities to understand processes occurring. A problem for many form instruction is that students often come with shallow knowledge. The students may learn just enough to pass a test, but they lack a deeper understanding of the subject matter and have difficulty applying what they have learned to unfamiliar situations. In this study, a computer aided instruction based on self-regulated strategy in teaching chemical reactions is introduced. The present research has the following stages: pre-development phase, implementation phase and evaluation phase. The research tools included: questionnaires, attitude scale and computer program which includes concept mapping, and multimedia presentations. The framework includes solutions to some problems: (1) to design an interface that effectively monitors and supports self-regulated learning; (2) to devise an evaluator model that allows the assessment of understanding; (3) to effectively elicit further self-regulated learning that improves student’s understanding.
