Road accidents have reached a very high level in the K.S.A., a fact that has required collaboration of efforts to find out solutions and ways to minimize this problem. Therefore, this research handles a segment of resident drivers who make their living by driving and who are the main cause of road accidents. So data have been collected from 3454 drivers being involved in 2047 accidents in the year 1433 A.H. A random sample of driving learning schools in Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah have been selected. Also, 1067 trainees have been interviewed and the equipment and curricula have been assessed as well. The researcher has concluded that the rate of road accidents among Saudis and Arabs who work as drivers is less than those of other nationalities. Likewise, there has been an increase in road accidents on the part of Saudis and Arabs who do not practice driving as a profession compared to those of other nationalities. The researcher, moreover, has shown that young Saudi drivers are more careless than old Saudi ones. In answering questions on traffic education, the gap between those who are still students in driving learning schools and those who graduated has been very slight. The researcher has recommended that drivers who make their living by driving must speak good Arabic and/ or English and application to this job must be exclusive to people who are under 30. Nonetheless, there has been objection to this proposal due to social and security reasons that have to be examined by social and security specialists.
تحاول هذه الدراسة الإسهام في الجهود المبذولة للتخفيف من الحوادث المرورية في المملكة من خلال دراسة السائق الذي يعد من أهم العناصر التي تسهم في الحوادث المرورية، حيث تم جمع معلومات عن 2.074 حادثا مرورياً تورط فيها 3.454 سائقاً خلال عام 1433 ه. كما تم اختيار عينة عشوائية من مدارس تعليم السياقة في كل من الدمام والرياض وجدة حيث جرت مقابلة نحو 1.067 متدرباً على السياقة في هذه المدارس، كما تم تقييم تجهيزات ومناهج هذه المدارس. ويركز هذا البحث على شريحة السائقين الوافدين الذين يمتهنون السياقة كمصدر رزق لهم.
