ينص القانون الدولي الإنساني صراحة على وجوب احترام حقوق الأطفال أثناء النزاعات المسلحة، ويوفر آليات تكفل وضع نصوص هذه الاتفاقات موضع التنفيذ بما يضمن توفير الحماية لهؤلاء الأطفال، إلا أنه رغم ذلك مازالت حقوق الأطفال تنتهك وعلى نطاق واسع في مناطق الصراع المختلفة في العالم. يهدف هذا البحث إلى كشف حجم انتهاكات قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي لقواعد الحماية الدولية لحقوق الطفل أثناء عدوانها على قطاع غزة عام 2014، وإلى أي مدى تكفل آليات الحماية الدولية محاسبة مرتكبي الجرائم من الإسرائيليين بحق المدنيين الفلسطينيين وفي مقدمتهم الأطفال. هذا ولقد تبين من خلال البحث أن عدوان 2014، يعد الأكثر انتهاكاً لقواعد الحماية الدولية لحقوق الطفل الفلسطيني منذ احتلال قطاع غزة عام 1967. كما خلص البحث إلى أن تكرار جرائم الإسرائيليين بحق المدنيين الفلسطينيين وفي مقدمتهم الأطفال، جاء نتيجة طبيعية لإفلاتهم المستمر من العقاب على ما يقترفونه من جرائم، الأمر يمثل وصمة عار في جبين العدالة الدولية، وهو دلالة واضحة على تغليب المجتمع الدولي للاعتبارات والمصالح السياسية على حساب حقوق الإنسان والانتصار للضحايا. وفي نهايته خرج البحث بعدة توصيات أهمها، مطالبة المجتمع الدولي بتحمل مسؤولياته القانونية والأخلاقية، تجاه حماية حقوق الأطفال في قطاع غزة، وتفعيله لآليات الحماية الدولية، بما يكفل محاسبة مرتكبي الجرائم من الإسرائيليين بحق أطفال قطاع غزة. كما طالب المحكمة الجنائية الدولية بالقيام بمسؤولياتها القانونية تجاه الضحايا من الفلسطينيين، ومحاسبة كل من خطط وأمر ونفذ من قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي لجرائم بحقهم سيما الأطفال منهم.
