توجد مدارس متعددة في شأن تحضير الدرس. يشير بعض الباحثين إلي أن تحضير الدرس ليس فكرة جيدة لأنها تركز على المدرس أكثر من الطالب وقد يجعل كثرة التحضير أكثر جمودا ويقلل من مرونة المدرس تجاه مقابلة احتياجات الطلاب. بيد أن بعض المدرسين يجدون صعوبة في التدريس ويعانون من عدم الاستعداد التام للتعامل مع المشاكل اللغوية التي قد تواجههم. حاول الباحث معرفة إلى أي مدي يعد أعضاء هيئة التدريس بقسم اللغات الأجنبية ومركز اللغة الإنجليزية محاضراتهم على نحو فعال. وتم ذلك عن طريق استبيان. تشير نتائج هذه الدراسة إلي أهمية فاعلية التحضير في تدريس وتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية كما تؤكد علي إنجاح العملية التعليمية لكل من المدرس والطالب، فهي تعكس للمدرس الصورة الكاملة عما قام به و مقدار ما ينبغي القيام بعلمه. وبنفس القدر من الأهمية فإن تحضير الدرس يثري تجربة المدرس في التنظيم والإدارة ويوضح التعديلات التي يجب إجراؤها عندما يدرس الدرس مرة أخري. إن التحضير الفعال للدرس يساعد الطالب في تحسن مستواه دون الشعور بالملل واللامبالاة ودون إضاعة الوقت والجهد. الأهم من ذلك، فإنه يسهم بشكل كبير في زيادة معرفته المنهجية ويرفع قدرته اللغوية. \
There are various schools of thought on the issue of lesson planning. Some theorists suggest that lesson planning is not a good idea as it creates a more fixed, teacher-centred-lesson. It is argued that too much planning can make lessons rather rigid and stop the teacher being flexible to the needs of the students. However, some teachers would face great difficulty in being able to conduct a lesson in such a way, as he/she wouldn't be prepared to deal with some of the language problems that may arise from unplanned lesson(s), therefore, may lose the direction. The investigator tried to find out to what extent the teaching staff, both male and female, plans their lectures effectively. This was carried out by administering a questionnaire. The conclusions of this study indicate that lesson planning is essential for efficient language teaching and learning. It ensures success for the teacher as well as the student. It presents the teacher with a picture of how much he has done and how much remains to be done. Of equal importance is the fact that lesson planning enriches the teacher’s experience in organization and administration, and it tells him what changes he should make when he presents the lesson again next time. On the students' part, lessen planning encourages him to progress gradually without feeling bored or uninterested, and without wasting time and effort, which is impossible in the absence of planned work. More importantly, it contributes significantly to his systematic knowledge and his linguistic ability. \
