The objective of this research is to reveal the relation between mental hygiene and academic achievement for basic level pupils in Khartoum state. Descriptive and correlation approaches were used by the researchers; the population of the study was the pupils of alneelain bank and Khartoum international basic schools. A purposive sample was selected from the two schools using random sampling techniques. The size of the sample was 120 pupils 57 from alneelain bank school and 63 from Khartoum international school. The tools used in this study were a mental hygiene scale and school examinations. The researchers used different statistical methods for data processes, such as Parson’s correlation coefficient, Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient, Student t- test and one way analysis of variance. The findings of the study are as follow: There are significant differences between male and female pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades in the academic achievement. There are no significant differences between male and female pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades in the mental hygiene. There are no significant differences between the pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades in the academic achievement. There are no significant differences between pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades in the mental hygiene. There is weak correlation between academic achievement and mental hygiene among pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades. The mental hygiene is seemed to be higher among the pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades. The academic achievement is seemed to be higher among the pupils in the 7th and 8th basic level grades.\
