The ethics of scientific research necessitates full respect for the rights of others, their opinions and their dignity, particularly those of the participants in the research sample. To ensure the commitment of all parties that use the tests and the psychometric assessments, there should be a set of controls and ethics that guide the path, identify practices in this field, and give the complete and the professional character which is required by of the community. However, the interest of Arab psychologists in ethics in scientific research is not great compared to the attention given to it by their western colleagues , therefore, this paper sheds light generally on the ethics of scientific research, especially in the areas of humanities and social research where ethics are globally applicable. So, the paper presents first a historical background about the need for such controls, and basic aspects of intervene in the privacy and rights of participants, especially their right to voluntary informed consent (based on adequate information). The paper addressed also the procedural aspects in getting the informed consent, and dealt with the theoretical framework the moral and the legitimate one to interfere in the privacy. The practical reality of human subject's rights has been also appointed. In conclusion, it puts forward some recommendations concerning the application of ethics in scientific research.
