تهدف الدراسة إلى وضع تصور مقترح حول الدور الذي يمكن أن تقوم به المؤسسة التربوية في التعامل مع المواطنة الرقمية كأحد ثمار الثورة التكنولوجية التي نعيشها في العصر الحالي، سعيا لمزيد من الفاعلية في مواجهة وتقنين طاهرة المواطنة الرقمية والمجتمعات الافتراضية وما تتسبب فيه من سلبيات على أفراد المجتمع، دورها في إمدادهم بإطار أخلاقي وقيمي يحكم تفاعلاتهم مع هذه المجتمعات الافتراضية ويكسبهم الأسس والقواعد اللازمة للمواطنة الرقمية المثلى. توصلت الباحثة بعد تحليل الدراسات السابقة في المجال ومسح الأدبيات ذات العلاقة بالمجال إلى تصور مقترح لدور المؤسسة التربوية في غرس قيم المواطنة الرقمية يتضمن العمل على ثلاثة محاور أساسية: المحور الأول: تطوير البيئات التعليمية الداعمة للتكنولوجيا الرقمية وتشكيل المجتمعات الافتراضية، المحور الثاني: وضع ضوابط ومعايير التعامل الرقمي، المحور الثالث: تعظيم الدور التربوي للمدرسة.
