إن تكنولوجيا نظم المعلومات الآلية أداة وأسلوبا وجدت أساسا لتسيير المعلومات وتحقيق قيمة مضافة للمنظمات بشتى أنواعها، ولقد سارعت مؤسسات التعليم العالي إلى تبنيها وتطبيقها في كافة أنشطتها وخاصة على مستوى المكتبات الجامعية كأداة فاعلة في إدارة المعرفة، إلا أن هذا الاستخدام أحيانا ما يزال غير واضح التأثير على أداء المكتبات والجامعة الأم، أمام تعدد مصادر النظم الآلية للمعلومات واختلاف أنواعها، في ظل وجود البنيات التحتية وإمكانية الربط والتشابك واستغلال القدرات والوظائف المختلفة للنظم، وتوفر الإطار البشري الكفء المشرف والقائم على تشغيلها والاستفادة من مخرجاتها، ومحاولة لتكوين رؤية واضحة حول تفعيل استخدام نظم المعلومات الآلية والتقصي حول تحسين أداء المكتبات الجامعية من خلالها تم انجاز هذا البحث بالاعتماد على منهج دراسة الحالة، اعتمادا على ثلاث عينات هي: مكتبات كل من جامعات قسنطينة1 وقسنطينة2 وقسنطينة3، باستخدام أداة جمع البيانات (استمارة الاستبيان في شكل مقابلات مقيدة) لمجتمع الدراسة المكون من محافظي المكتبات الجامعية للكليات والأقسام التابعة لها، وتم التوصل لضرورة وجود هيكل مستقل يشرف على استخدام النظم ومتابعة عملها وتعديل المهام المصاحبة لإحلال النظام الآلي.
