المستخلص: هدف البحث الحالي إلى تناول العوامل ذات العلاقة بمستوى تحصيل طلاب المملكة العربية السعودية في اختبارات الدراسة الدولية للرياضيات والعلوم TIMSS, والتعرف على مدى استفادة الدول المشاركة في دراسة TIMSS من النتائج في وضع خطط مستقبلية لتطوير التعليم، وتقييم نموذج مقترح يسهم في تحسين مشاركات المملكة العربية السعودية في الدورات TIMSS المقبلة، ولتحقيق الأهداف السابقة تمت مراجعة الأدبيات والدراسات والتقارير العربية والأجنبية التي تناولت الدراسة الدولية والرياضيات للعلوم TIMSS، وفي ضوء ذلك أوصت الباحثة باستراتيجية لرفع مستوى تحصيل طلبة المملكة في الرياضيات والعلوم، تتضمن ثلاثة محاور رئيسة وهي: المؤسسات التعليمية، والمعلم، والأسرة، كما اقترحت إجراء عدد من الدراسات، والمشاركة بصورة أوسع في الدراسة الدولية TIMSS للرياضيات والعلوم للصف الرابع والثاني والمتوسط، وذلك للكشف عن واقع التحصيل في مرحلة مبكرة عن عمر الطلبة ليسهل رسم الخطط العلاجية.

The aim of the present research is to address factors related to the achievement level of students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in respect to the exams of the international mathematics and science study program (TIMSS), and to identify the extent to which countries, participating in the TIMSS study program, benefit from the results in order to develop future plans for the development of education. The aim is also to evaluate a proposed model contributing to improving Saudi Arabia's participation in the forthcoming TIMSS courses. To meet the previous objectives, the Arabic and foreign literature, studies and reports dealing with the international mathematics and science study program (TIMSS) were reviewed.
In light of this, the researcher recommended a strategy to raise the level of achievement of the Kingdom's students in mathematics and science, which includes three main axes: The educational institutions, the teacher and the family. She also proposed that a number of studies be conducted and for there to be a wider participation in the TIMSS International Study program of Mathematics and Science for the fourth, second and middle-school grades. This is for the purpose of revealing the reality of achievement at an early stage of the age of the students, so that the planning of treatment plans can be facilitated.
