تعتبر المواقع الالكترونية أحد وسائل الوعي والنشر مهما تعددت أشكالها وظروفها فهي تدخل في إطار واحد يمكن أن نطلق عليها الوسيلة الإعلامية الثقافية للأفكار والتجارب وهذه الوسيلة هي صاحبة الفضل الأول في النشر والذيوع وبدونها تعيش المجتمعات في عزله عن الأخرى كما أنها تلعب دور أساسيا في تكوين المجتمعات وفي نشر وتطوير إنتاج هذه المجتمعات ونقل العلم والمعرفة للغير، والرياضة باعتبارها سمه المجتمع الصغير الذي يرتبط بممارسة نشاطات بدنية وفكرية معينة بين أفراده تعتمد إلى حد كبير على الوسائل في سرعة نقلها وتطويرها وتحسن مستوى أدائها من نطاق المجتمع الصغير إلى نطاق المجتمع الكبير. وتتناول هذه الدراسة الجانب الذي يهتم بالرياضة والثقافة الرياضية وذلك للدور التربوي الذي تقوم به المواقع الإلكترونية في المجتمع، وكذلك لتأثيرها على عقول الناس وتفكيرهم ويمكنها من القيام بهذا الدور سهولة اقتنائها واهتمامها بقطاعات المجتمع المختلفة. ولذلك فدراسة المواقع الإلكترونية وعلاقتها بالثقافة الرياضية قد يكون لها أهمية كبيرة باعتبار أنها من أهم نواتج عملية التنشئة الاجتماعية في المجتمع وأحد المحددات المؤثرة في سلوك الفرد والجماعة، فالثقافة الرياضية تلعب دور هام في نشر الوعي الرياضي بأهمية الرياضة وبالتالي الحرص على ممارسة النشاط الرياضي إن لم يكن على مستوى البطولة فتكون الممارسة للترويح أو للصحة العامة. \
