This study examined the effect of using students' native culture on developing some creative writing and reading skills for the first year experimental language prep school students. Participants of the study were sixty eight students pre- tested and divided into two groups ( an experimental group and a control group ). The study employed a creative writing and reading skills checklist. A creative writing and reading skills test was set. The experiment lasted for more than three months. Upon the completion of the experiment, the participants were post tested. When statistical analysis of the data was conducted, it was found that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group members on the post administration of the test. Another significant difference existed between the mean scores of the experimental group on the pre and post administrations of the test. It was concluded that using students ' native culture had a large effect on developing some creative writing and reading skills for the experimental group students.
