تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى التخطيط لتحسين مستوى نوعية حياة المسنين في المجتمع السعودي من خلال التعرف على البرامج والخدمات الاجتماعية، النفسية، الاقتصادية، والصحية للمسنين في المجتمع السعودي. الكشف عن المعوقات الاجتماعية، النفسية، الاقتصادية، والصحية التي تواجه المسنين في المجتمع السعودي. والتوصل لآليات تخطيطية مقترحة لتحسين نوعية حياة المسنين في المجتمع السعودي. وقد توكنت عينة الدراسة من 232 مسن من مدينة الرياض، وقد استخدمت الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات التي ساعدت في الإجابة على التساؤلات البحثية. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج منها ما يلي: وجدت الدراسة أن أبرز البرامج والخدمات الاجتماعية لكبار السن السعوديين تتمثل في احتياج المسنين للتقدير من الآخرين وتقدير قدراتهم الحقيقية واحترام أدائهم، وكانت أبرز البرامج والخدمات النفسية تتمثل في احتياج المسن للمساندة الاجتماعية، وأبرز البرامج والخدمات الصحية تتمثل في احتياج المسنين إلى وجود تأمين صحي لهم، وكذلك أبرز البرامج والخدمات الاقتصادية تتمثل في احتياج المسنين إلى وجود دخل منتظم. أما عن المعوقات التي تعيق تحسين توعية حياة المسنين في المملكة توصلت الدراسة إلى أن أبرز المعوقات النفسية تتمثل في الخوف من سفر الأبناء للخارج، وأبرز المعوقات الاجتماعية تتمثل في صعوبة تغيير عاداتهم التي عاشوا عليها وتعودوا على ممارستها، وكذلك أبرز المعوقات الصحية تتمثل في شعورهم بالإزعاج من الأمراض المزمنة، وأبرز المعوقات الاقتصادية تتمثل في الحاجة إلى وجود سائق خاص. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من الآليات التخطيطية المقترحة لبرامج الرعاية الاجتماعية المتاحة لتحسين نوعية حياة كبار السن بالمجتمع السعودي من وجهة نظر المسنين كان أبرزها وجود دعم خاص لدور المسنين. وانتهت الدراسة إلى وضع تصور تخطيطي مقترح لتحسين نوعية حياة المسنين في المجتمع السعودي من منظور التخطيط الاجتماعية.
This study seeks for planning to enhance the quality of elderly people's life in the Saudi society by identifying the social, psychological, economic, and health programs for the elderly people in the Saudi society. Also, detect the social, psychological, economic, and health obstacles that face the elderly people in Saudi society. Finally, suggest a proposal plan to enhance the quality of elderly people's life in the Saudi society. The study sample included 232 elderly person who live in Riyadh city. Moreover, the researcher developed a special questionnaire for this study purpose in order to collect the required data to answer the research questions. The main findings of this study were as following: The study found that the most prominent social programs and services for the elderly Saudis was that elderly people are in need for appreciation of their true potential and respect their past, the most prominent psychological programs and services was elderly people are in need for social support While, the most health programs and services was that elderly people are in need to have a health insurance, as well as the most prominent economic programs and services was that elderly people are in need for steady monthly income. In the other side, the study found that the main psychological obstacle that face the elderly people in Saudi society was that their fear if their sons or daughter decided to travel abroad, moreover, the study found that the main social obstacle was the that the elderly people disability of changing their old habits which don't match the new life style, as well as the main health obstacles was that the elderly people were wearied of the chronic diseases, and the main economic obstacles was that the elderly people need for a private driver. Also, most of the study sample agreed that senior's housing care is in need for a supplementary financial support That was the most important mechanisms to enhance the quality of elderly people's life in Saudi society from their opinion. Finally, the study concluded with planning proposal to enhance the quality of elderly people's life in Saudi society from the social planning perspective.
