المستخلص: This paper explores Fatema Mernissi's contribution to the critical arena revealing her unique strategies, her skill of mediation and her active transformative role that challenges the status quo. A peer analytical reading reveals how . in her subtle mixture between fact/fiction and appearances/reality, and in her original new shape of postcolonial discourse she combines fiction and criticism as a new hybrid of metanarrative and metacriticismthat crosses the boundaries between creative writing and literary criticism offering a new reading of West/East relationship pointing to a new interrelatedness. Mernissi's Scheherazade • Goes West: Different Cultures, different Harems offers a new multidirectional dialogue collectively touching on ail walks of life and opening new horizons in both studies of the Orient in new rbetorical communicative strategies arriving at an interesting deconstructive conclusion that introduces analternative world.
