The article aimed to shed light on the battle of awareness and the issue of modernity. It included several elements. The first element dealt with the cultural confrontation between the Muslim world and the colonial world of the West. The second element discussed the emergence of the concept of modernity in the cultural and historical thought fields. The third element concerned the essence of the concept of modernity. The fourth element pointed out the principles and foundations of modernity, including the principle of rationality in the sense of elevating the mind, the principle of secularism or mundane in the sense of limiting the interest of modernity to the worldly life without the afterlife, and the principle of priority of human selfhood, which implies the recognition of the individual's individuality, freedom, responsibility and the right to criticize what he receives. The fifth element discussed the main ideas of modernity. The sixth element focused on the problem of Western modernity. The seventh element presented images of criticism of modernity.
