|a يعد كتاب المجروحين لابن حبان من كتب التراجم والجرح والتعديل ذات المكانة العلمية الجليلة والفائدة الكبيرة، كما ولمصنفه المكانة الرفيعة؛ فهو من علماء الحديث الأفذاذ؛ لتبحره بهذا العلم، ونقده للرواة، وأسلوبه ومنهجه الخاص، وأحكامه واستنباطاته في مصنفاته العلمية الكثيرة والجليلة. إن آفة الوهم المتعلقة بالخطأ والزلل والتغيير والتبديل والتحريف، لا يكاد يسلم منها إلا ما رحم ربي من الرواة الحفاظ والأفذاذ والجهابذة المتقنين وتامي الضبط منهم، وقد وصِف بها الكثير من الرواة واستعملها كثير من النقاد بجرح الرواة بهذا اللفظ من ألفاظ الجرح والتعديل، وكان كل واحد منهم يستعملها بأسلوبه الخاص بالاشتقاق منها وتراكيبها مع غيرها من الألفاظ؛ لتكوين عبارة وجملة للدلالة على حكم معين يدل على جرح للراوي وبيان وهمه وخطئه، كوقوعه بالقلب أو التغيير أو التبديل أو الاضطراب أو الإدخال بالسند أو المتن أو كلاهما بإدخال احدهما مكان الآخر وهكذا من أنواع الأوهام الموجبة للقدح بضبط هذا الراوي. فكان ابن حبان من نقاد الرجال الذين استعملوا هذه اللفظة ومشتقاتها وتراكيبها، بمنهج وأسلوب خاص به ومميز عن غيره في كتاب" المجروحين "باستعماله وإطلاقه للفظة الوهم على الرواة ودلالتها وصياغتها مع عبارات وألفاظ أخرى للوقوف على عبارة دقيقة مفسرة ومفصلة في جرحه للرواة، وقد وافق بأحكامه على الرواة علماء الجرح والتعديل الآخرين عامة ولم يخالفهم إلا ما ندر فكان دقيقا مصيباً بعامة أحكامه. وقد وصف ابن حبان 62 راوياً بلفظة الوهم أو بأحد الألفاظ المشتقة منها، فاستعمل سبعة ألفاظ وهي:" 1-الوهم: وقد وصف بها 28 راوياً. 2-وهم: وقد وصف بها راوياً واحداً. 3-يهم: وقد وصف بها 9 رواة. 4-ويهم: وقد وصف بها 8رواة. 5-التوهم: 2-وقد وصف بها 4 رواة. وهمه: وقد وصف بها 10 رواة. 7-توهماً: وقد وصف بها راويين"، وركب هذه الألفاظ مع غيرها من ألفاظ وعبارات الجرح الأخرى، ليصوغ بها عبارة تدل على مدى درجة وهم الراوي وجرحه وسبب هذا الوهم.
