يهدف هذا البحث إلى التعرف على وتحليل مشكلات نطق اللغة الإنجليزية التي تواجه طلاب ومعلمي المدارس الثانوية السودانية. أن أسباب هذه المشكلات متعددة. منها: أولا: تداخل أصوات اللغة العربية في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. ثانيا: أن بعض معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية في مدارسنا الثانوية لم يكونوا متخصصين في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية أصلا. ثالثا: وحتى الذين تخصصوا في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية لم يتلقوا تدريبا كافيا لتدريس هذه اللغة الأجنبية وممارسة نطقها. رابعا: أن هنالك أخطاء في نطق اللغة الإنجليزية متوارثة بواسطة الطلاب والمعلمين من خبراتهم السابقة لتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. خامسا: أن الكتب المقررة لتدريس اللغة الإنجليزية، سلسلة "Spine Series" لا تحتوي على أنشطة تعليمية فعالة تساعد الطلاب على ممارسة النطق السليم. سادسا: لم تكن هنالك مواد مسجلة من الناطقين باللغة الإنجليزية لتكون نموذجا لنطق اللغة الإنجليزية الصحيح، أي لم تكن هنالك أشرطة كاسيت أو فيديو تساعد الطلاب على تعلم وممارسة النطق السليم من خلال السماع والمشاهدة والممارسة. استخدم الباحث البحث الاستبانة (لمعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية بالمدارس الثانوية) وثلاثة اختبارات نطق لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية –الصف الثالث) لجمع البيانات من المعلمين والطلاب. ثم استخدام الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتحليل البيانات. كما استخدم الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية لإجراء التحليل الإحصائي. ليكون هذا البحث مفيدا لمعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية وواضعي المناهج وطلاب اللغة الإنجليزية.
This research aims at the identification and analysis of English pronunciation problems faced by Sudanese Secondary School Students and teachers. The root causes of these difficulties are numerous. Among these causes are: First, the interference of the mother tongue (Arabic) in learning English language. Secondly, some of the teachers of English at our Secondary Schools are not specialized in teaching English language in the first place. Thirdly, even those who are specialized in teaching English are not well-trained in teaching this foreign language and practicing its pronunciation. Fourthly, there are inherited bad pronunciation habits carried over by students and teachers from their previous experience with learning English language. Fifthly, the prescribed English course books (Spine Series) do not provide effective pronunciation activities to help students develop good English pronunciation. Sixthly, there are no recorded materials by English native speakers to provide students with model English pronunciation. In other words, there are no tape cassettes or video tapes to help students to learn and practice model pronunciation through listening and watching. The researcher use a questionnaire (for the teachers of English language at secondary schools) and three pronunciation tests (for students of secondary level - the third year) in order to collect the data from teachers and students for conducting the research. Then descriptive analytical method was adopted in analyzing the students' and teachers' responses. Also, the researcher used SPSS package to carry out the statistical analysis of the data. This research will be beneficial for the teachers of English, syllabus designers and students of English.
