|a التنافسية نشاط مرتبط بحياة الكائن الحي، وإن اختلف الهدف؛ فهناك من يتنافس من أجل البقاء، وهناك من يتنافس من أجل الوصول للقمة، وهناك من يتنافس من أجل البقاء على القمة. وارتبط مفهوم التنافسية بين الجامعات بظهر التصنيفات المحلية للجامعات، وزادت حدة التنافسية مع ظهور التصنيفات الدولية للجامعات، بالإضافة لعوامل أخرى زادت من حدة التنافس بين الجامعات؛ عالمياً وإقليمياً ومحلياً. ومن ثم هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى تحليل مفهوم التنافسية بين الجامعات ومناقشة العوامل التي أدت لزيادة حدة المنافسة بين الجامعات، واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي. وعرضت الدراسة لبعض المصطلحات وهي: التنافسية، والمنافسة، والقدرة التنافسية، والميزة النسبية، والميزة التنافسية، وذلك بغرض ضبط المصطلحات وتوضيح الفروق بينهم. كما قدمت الدراسة لمحة عن الجذور التاريخية لنشأة مفهوم التنافسية بين الجامعات، والوقوف على أشكال التنافس بين الجامعات. وقدمت الدراسة تحليل لعوامل زيادة حدة التنافسية بين الجامعات. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى تحديد هذه العوامل في : العولمة وتدويل التعليم الجامعي، واقتصاد المعرفة ومجتمع المعرفة، ودور التعليم في دعم تنافسية الدول، واتفاقية تحرير التجارة في الخدمات، وظهور التصنيفات العالمية للجامعات، والمشروعات التنافسية.

|b Competitiveness is an activity related to the life of living organisms, even if the objective is different. Competitiveness concept between universities is related to the university local rankings and the competitiveness increased because of the international university rankings as well as some other factors between universities nationally, regionally and internationally. Therefore, the objective of the present study is to analyze the concept of competitiveness between universities and to discuss the factors which led to the increase of competitiveness between universities. The descriptive method was followed in the present study. Some terms related to this study were presented such as competitiveness, competition, competitiveness ability, relative advantage, and the competitiveness advantage. The differences between these terms were also examined. The present study investigated the historical background of the competitiveness concept and different forms of competitiveness between universities. It also provided an analysis of the factors which led to the increase of competitiveness between universities. It identified these factors as follows: Globalization and internationalization of university education, knowledge economy, knowledge society, role of education in supporting the competitiveness between countries, GATS (The General Agreement on Trade in Services), the world ranking of universities and the competitive projects. .
