تعتبر المشاركة البرلمانية - بما تتضمنه من أنشطة يؤدي من خلالها الفرد دورا مهما وإيجابيا في الحياة السياسية والمجتمعية - ومن أهم مميزات الدولة الحديثة كما تأتي أهمية المشاركة البرلمانية في الوقت الحاضر من الدور الذي تؤديه هذه المشاركة في نهضة المجتمعات وتطورها باعتبارها شرطا أساسيا لتحقيق التنمية السياسية الفعلية ومحفزا للتحديث والتنمية السياسية وأداة ناجحة لحل مشكلات التخلف ووسيلة هامة تتمكن من خلالها القوى الاجتماعية والسياسية في المجتمع من طرح أفكارها والتعبير عن آرائها وعرض مطالبها وبرامجها والتأثير في صنع القرارات السياسية بالوسائل السليمة وبوصفها مقياسا صادقا يمكن من خلاله تقييم درجة الديمقراطية التي وصل إليها النظام السياسي للمجتمع. وبناء عليه فإن المعلومات المتعلقة بعملية المشاركة البرلمانية في الدول الإسلامية والعربية تبقى غير متكاملة وعرضة لذلك فإنه من المهم إجراء دراسات عن مشاركة المواطنين في النشاطات السياسية المختلفة لتكوين صورة متكاملة عن عملية الديمقراطية في تلك الدول، وللتحقق من صحة أو عدم صحة الفرضية السابقة التي تؤكد فكرة الديمقراطية والإسلام. \
