المستخلص: تتناول هذه الدراسة واحدا من موضوعات تجميل المدن، ألا وهو استخدام الأعمال الفنية في تجميل الساحات والميادين. تعرض الدراسة لتجارب بعض الدول الأجنبية والخليجية، وذلك من خلال تحليل فني لتلك التجارب، وكذلك يرصد ميدانيا تجربة الكويت في هذا الصدد.
تطرح الدراسة عدة نقاط، منها: الفرق بين جمال المدن وتجميلها؛ التخصصات التي تشارك في تجميل المدينة؛ علاقة تخصص الباحث وهو التصميم الداخلي (الديكور) والفنون التشكيلية بوجه عام بموضوع الدراسة؛ العناصر الرئيسية والثانوية في تجميل المدن؛ تعريف الساحة والميدان وبعض الخلفيات، النصب التذكاري، بعض الإشكالات الخاصة بالتجميل وبالعمل الفني في البيئة الخليجية؛ دور المؤسسات الحكومية وغير الحكومية.
وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج وتوصيات، منها أنه ينبغي على الجهات المعنية بدولة الكويت الاهتمام بالساحات والميادين العديدة الشاغرة، وتنويع الخدمات والنشاطات التي تقدمها للمواطنين، وتجميل واجهات المباني المطلة عليها، وانتقاء الأعمال الفنية المناسبة لها، والاستفادة من تجارب الدول صاحبة السبق في هذا المجال.



This study deals with one of the topics of beautifying cities and that is the use of art works to beautify the public spaces and squares. The study examines the experiences of some foreign and Gulf countries via an artistic analysis of those experiences, just as it examines, from the ground, Kuwait’s own experience in this regard.
The study poses a number of points, including: The difference between the cities and their beautification, the specializations which participate in the beautification of the city, the relationship of the specialization of the researcher, which is interior design and the formational arts in general, with the subject of the study, the main and secondary elements related to the beautification of cities, the definition of the space and square in addition to some background information, the monuments, some specific problematic issues related to the beautification and the art work within the Gulf environment, and the role of the governmental and non-governmental institutions.
The study reached several conclusions and recommendations. Among them was that concerned authorities within the state of Kuwait, must pay attention to the many vacant spaces and squares, diversify the services and activities which they provide to the citizens, beautify the facades of the buildings overlooking them, select the appropriate artistic works for them and benefit from the experiences of countries which already have precedence in this area.
