This paper aims to show the function of simultaneous interpreting . The researcher gives the definition of interpreting and translation and makes difference between them, so each one has especial field that differs from the other. The researcher sheds light on the interpreter and the translator and the task for each one .He deduces that the task of the interpreter is more difficult than the task of the translator .The interpreter works under pressure .The interpreter deals with oral i.e. he changes the speech of one language into another language by spoken ; whereas, the translator deals with written text i.e. he changes the text from one language into another by writing . The main mission for both interpreter and translator is to convey the meaning .Understanding culture is important for interpreters , because when they interpret from one language to another , they deal with cultures rather than languages . In the training of simultaneous interpreting the emphasis is on hearing , intonation , different accents .Another important quality which the interpreter must have , is to be confident and calm . Another point which the researcher focuses on text in context .Before starting to interpret , the interpreter has to put the text to be interpreted in the context .By context , the researcher means : subject , time , place , audience and speaker |
