|b The English novelist Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) published his novel Gulliver's Travels in 1726. The Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz (1911 – 2006) published his novel (Rehlat Ibn Fattouma) Ibn Fattouma's Travel in 1983. There is a relation of intertextuality between the two novels. Ibn Fattouma's Travel and Gulliver's Travels have many things in common. However, the endings of the two novels are totally different. The paper through the method of comparative analysis explains the difference. It includes five points, in the first there is a discussion of the similarities between the two novels especially in actions and traits of characters. The second point tackles the differences between the two plots and how they lead to different ends. The third point shows the different conflicts. The fourth point analyses the characters of the protagonists Gulliver and Qendeel and treats the differences between them. It also shows how each of them determines the ending of his novel. Finally the fifth point shows the relationship between the endings and the different backgrounds of the two novelists.
