|a نعيش في عصر تلاقت فيه تقنية اتصالات مذهلة مع ظهور حاسبات متطورة ساهمت في إنتاج هذا الكم الهائل من المعلومات والذي كان من نتائجه ظهور ما يعرف بشبكات التواصل الاجتماعي والتي سهلت إنتاج هذا الكم الهائل من المعلومات وبثه بكل يسر وسهولة. \nفآلاف المشاركات تغزو الشبكات الاجتماعية خلال الساعة الواحدة، لتكون بذلك هذه مخازن للبيانات إذا ما استفيد من هذه البيانات وتحليلها بالتأكيد فسيكون هناك مصدر قوي جدا لكسب المزيد من الأموال، وقد تزدهر في وقت قريب الشركات التي تقدم خدماتها في تحليل بيانات الشبكات الاجتماعي لتكون مصدرا مهما وفعالا للمعلومة. \n وتأتي تويتر على رأس وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والتي لها كثير من المدلولات والمعاني، فكلمة "تويتر" تعيد إلى الذهن الطيور بدلاً من البشر. ولكنها تعني مفهوماً مختلفاً لدى المهنيين المتخصصين، الذين يعلمون أن تويتر (www.twitter.com) هي، خدمة الرسائل المجانية التي تشهد نموا ريعا للناس، وأنها واحدة من الأدوات التي يمكن أن تستفيد منها المكتبات (وأمناء المكتبات) لتحسين خدماتهم دون إنفاق كثير من الوقت أو الجهد أو المال.\nيمكننا الآن القول وبشكل قاطع إن تويتر ووسائل التواصل الاجتماعية الأخرى أضحت جزءا مهما للتواصل مع المستفيدين من المكتبات وأداة رئيسة في الجهود التي تبذل للتسويق. \nوفي بعض الأحيان يبدو تويتر وكما لو أنه "بارومتر" لقياس أي ظاهرة وردة فعل الجمهور حولها في العالم. \nويتناول هذا البحث التعريف بتويتر وميزاته والخدمات التي يمكن أن تقدمها المكتبات لمستفيديها من خلاله، إضافة إلى استطلاع ومقارنة للخدمات الفعلية المقدمة من المكتبات الجامعية السعودية في هذا المجال وما يماثلها من المكتبات العالمية.

|f We live in an era in which amazing communication technology combined with the advent of advanced computers, contributed to the production of this huge amount of information, which resulted in the emergence of what is known as social networks, which facilitated the production and transmission of this huge amount of information with ease. \nThousands of participants invade social networks within one hour, so these become data stores. If this data is used and analyzed, there will be a very powerful source for earning more money, and companies that offer their services in analyzing social networking data may soon thrive to become an important and effective source of information.\nTwitter is at the top of social media, which has many meanings. The word “Twitter” brings to mind birds rather than humans. But it means a different concept for professional specialists, who know that Twitter (www.twitter.com) is a free messaging service that is growing rapidly for people, and it is one of the tools that libraries (and librarians) can use to improve their services without spending too much time, effort or money.\nWe can now say categorically that Twitter and other social media means have become an important part of communicating with library users and a key tool in marketing efforts.\nSometimes Twitter looks like a “barometer” to measure any phenomenon and the audience's reaction to it in the world.\nThis research deals with the introduction of Twitter, its features and the services that libraries can provide to its users through it, in addition to a survey and comparative study of the actual services provided by libraries of Saudi Universities in this field and their similar international libraries.\nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
