المستخلص: تناول هذا البحث دراسة تاريخية لما قدمته الأوقاف الخيرية في اليمن من تنمية اجتماعية وبشرية في العصر الإسلامي، وتحديداً في المدة من منتصف القرن السادس إلى القرن التاسع الهجريين، إذا تؤكد المصادر التاريخية التي دونت لهذ الحقبة الزمنية انه كان للأوقاف دور كبير وعظيم فيما شهدته اليمن من تطور في مختلف نواحي حياة الناس الاجتماعية والعلمية والفكرية، مما أسهم في إحداث نهضة عمرانية غير مسبوقة في اليمن، لاسيما بعد ان تنوعت تلك الأوقاف بين مدارس تعليمية، وجوامع ومساجد بملحقاتها التعليمية وأقسامها الداخلية ومطابخها ودورها التي خصصت للأيتام والمنقطعين من الطلاب، ودور رعاية صحية، فضلاً عن ما تم إيقافه على كل تلك المنشآت من أراض زراعية وبساتين ومزارع، وفنادق، ومعاصر، ودكاكين، سخر ريعها للصرف على ما أوقفت.

This research deals with the historical study of what the charitable Endowmentsin Yemen provided regarding the social and humanistic development in the Islamic age, in particular in the middle of the sixth AH centuryuntil the ninth AH century . The recorded historical resources during the sixth AH century until the ninth AH century certified that the charitable Endowments played an important role to develop the different social, intellectual and scientific aspects of the Yemeni personal life. This great role of the charitable Endowments participated in making a greatarchitecture renaissance that had not been noticed before. It is due to the variations of the charitable Endowments which varied from educational schools to mosques with their educational and internal sections beside the kitchens and its role which was assigned to the care fullness of the orphans, students who did not continue studying, and healthy care. Moreover some other buildings. Agricultural lands, gardens, farms, hotels, Pounders and shops were devoted to support the charitable Endowments financially which helped to obtain self dependence for a lot of endowments constructions. The charitable endowments had shown a great benefit in Yemen as they participated in providing a humanistic development that led to appearance of alot of scholars, scientists, lawyers, speakers, historians and doctors … etc, who studied and graduated from these charitable endowments and gained a financial support as well as they obtained chances to teach later on. They participated in developing and improving all the intellectual and scientific aspects for a lot of Yemenis at that time. A lot of results can be concluded for this research most of The charitable endowments in Yemen had gone through a great social and humanistic development that could not be witnessed within its Islamic history due to the noticeable impact of the external affects that allowed Yemen to be connected with other regions of the Islamic world.
