Compared to other continents, Africa is young. Its youth represents the majority of its total population. African states must therefore invest in youth in order to launch a sustainable development locally and regionally, and enhance the public awareness of voluntarism that can organize the youth in nongovernmental organizations and direct their efforts to develop their local communities socially and culturally. African youth face many challenges and must solve many problems, such as illiteracy, dropping out from schools, unemployment and illegal immigration. African youth should draw a roadmap to solve these problems through non-governmental organizations that have visions and missions based on the positive customs and traditions of their own communities to build a sustainable development. That road map must include plans and programs necessary for development led by African youth themselves. Such efforts can materialize by community members, because government efforts are not enough to solve all problems in African countries.
