تعد خدمة المجتمع من أبرز وظائف الجامعة في الوقت الحالي بما توفره من مناخ يتيح المشاركة الفعالة في الرأي والعمل، والإسهام في بناء المجتمع وحل مشكلاته، وإحدى الوسائل لتحقيق ذلك تخصيص أماكن في مؤسسات التعليم العالي يطلق عليها اسم مراكز تنمية المشروعات الصغيرة لتتخذ منها الجامعات مقاراً لدراسة مشكلات تلك المشروعات وتوفير التدريب اللازم لها وابتكار أفكار وبرامج لتسويق منتجاتها ودعمها وتنميتها بما يخدم المجتمع المحيط. وإذا كان العالم قد شهد تحولات اقتصادية كبيرة خلال العقود الماضية من خلال المشروعات الصغيرة والتي لعبت دوراً أساسياً في عملية التنمية والتطور الاقتصادي، كما أن دول العالم ذات الاقتصاديات المتطورة قد بذلت جهوداً كبيرة من أجل دعم تلك المشروعات الصغيرة لذلك قامت الدراسة بتسليط الضوء على بعض الاتجاهات العالمية في هذا المجال بهدف وضع رؤية مقترحة لدعم جامعة أسيوط فرع الوادي الجديد للمشروعات الصغيرة بالمحافظة في ضوء بعض تلك الاتجاهات. ولقد استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي نظراً لمناسبته لطبيعة الدراسة، وبناء على النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة تم وضع رؤية مقترحة لدعم جامعة أسيوط فرع الوادي الجديد للمشروعات الصغيرة بالمحافظة في ضوء بعض الاتجاهات العالمية، ومن أهم التوصيات التي أشارت إليها الدراسة ضرورة توفير الجامعة للدعم المالي اللازم للمركز المقترح كذلك توفير العاملين فيه من ذوي الخبرة والكفاءة في المجالين الإداري والتجاري.

The study used a descriptive approach due to the appropriateness of the nature of the study, and based on the findings of the study was the development of the vision proposed to support Assiut University of New Valley Branch of small projects to maintain in light of some of the global trends, and the most important recommendations referred to the need to provide the university for financial support necessary for the proposed center as well as providing its employees with experience and competence in the areas of administrative and commercial.
