The cultural decoding of the discursive communication requires a complex strategy of multiple readings on the explicit and implicit levels. However, this cultural implicitness becomes a problem when it relates to a culture which is not shared. Indeed, errors in decoding the cultural implicitness can be sources of misunderstanding or even conflict in the relationship between people of different cultural contexts, the implicitness being this hidden dimension which is not immediately identifiable for those who do not share the same cultural framework. This study focuses on intercultural decoding of the cultural implicitness, that is to say trying to understand texts produced in a given culture but decoded by a reader from a different culture. We will analyze the difficulties and the challenges of cultural and intercultural decoding upon when getting acquainted with texts from the written press and literature, particularly. |
