520 |a Aim: To investigate the fracture strength of two types of all ceramic restorations involved in the framework of removable partial dentures. Materials and Methods: Two types of all ceramic restorations were used to fabricate the crowns: Zirconia ceramics materials (SpectraHT, Germany) and IPS e.max Press ceramics materials (Ivoclar Vivadent, Austria). For the framework of removable partial denture, cobalt- chrome alloys (Wironit, BEGO, Germany) were used. And (Rhino Rock DB, UK) model resin materials were selected to fabricate the models. All crowns were subjected to the Universal Testing Machine (Admet, Lloyd LRX, UK) to investigate the fracture strength of both types of all ceramic crowns. Results: After the fracture load was applied: (1) No fractures were observed to all ceramic crowns that have been used as an abutment to the framework of removable partial denture (saddle). (2) A deformation occurred to the partial denture frameworks (saddle) that involved with all ceramic restorations. (3) By comparing the means of the tensile strength of the RPD framework and all ceramic restorations and by using the One- way ANOVA to analyse the data, the results were significant (P ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: With the limitation of this study, Zirconia and IPS e.max Press ceramic restorations can support the framework of RPD.
