The study was based on two surveys carried out in 2005 and 2011 by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) on violence in the Palestinian society. The aim of the study was to analyze all types of violence against women in the Palestinian society and to compare the results of the analysis in those two years, part of a period that witnessed drastic changes in political and socioeconomic circumstances in the Palestinian governorates. The goal was to study the effect of socioeconomic variables as risk factors on the prevalence rates of different types of violence against women in the Palestinian society. The target population of this study consisted of currently and previously married women aged 15 years old and above residing in the Palestinian territories. Multinomial logistic regression models were fitted to each year’s data to predict categorical placement in different categories of violence based on socioeconomic indicators. Results of the two models in both years were assessed and compared using ROC curves and odds ratios. The results indicated that the “region” variable has a highly significant effect on the dependent variable, with a reverse trend between the two years. Among other significant variables were type of locality, economic status, and educational attainment of husband, wife and children.
