تعمد هذه الدراسة إلى رصد أثر عبد الله بن المقفع على الكتاب اللاحقين في الجانب النقدي والبلاغي، حيث تبوأ مكانة عالية بين كتاب النثر العربي ونقاده ومفكريه، بمؤلفاته الأدبية، والتي تميزت في أكثرها بالابتكار والإبداع عالج خلالها الكثير من الأفكار والآراء والقضايا البلاغية والنقدية، مما جعله يعبد الطريق لملامح نظرية نقدية عربية جديدة أفاد منها اللاحقون، غير منكرين سبقه وريادته. ومن أجل ذلك حرص الأدباء والنقاد والبلغاء الذين أتوا من بعده، عبر الأجيال المتعاقبة أن يحفظو آدابه، ويتخرجوا على هذه الآداب، فكانت منبعا لم ينضب لمؤلفاتهم نسجوا على منوالها، وأفادوا منها فائدة ليس إلى إنكارها من سبيل فظهر أثره في اللاحقين؛ حين أنزلوه في منزلة أدبية مرموقة؛ وحين جعلوه أحد عباقرة التجديد في النثر العربي وأساليبه. وقد اقتضت طبيعة الدراسة ان يأتي البحث في ثلاثة مباحث وخاتمة، يسبقهم مدخل، تضمن المدخل زمن البدايات الذي عاش فيه ابن المقفع، وقيمة ما قدمه للعربية من تركة إبداعية متنوعة الاتجاهات، أما المباحث الثلاثة، فقد توقفت عند نماذج من أعلام الكتاب الذين تأثروا بأفكاره النقدية والبلاغية والأدبية، وجاءت الخاتمة متضمنة عدة نتائج توصلت إليها هذه الدراسة، ثم قائمة المصادر والمراجع التي اعتمد عليها البحث.
