|a يعد التخطيط البيئي من أهم الاستراتيجيات الوطنية في مجال حماية البيئة وتحقيق التنمية المستدامة على مستوى كافة أقاليم الدولة، بحيث يتم إعداد الخطط البيئية بما يحقق التنمية المستدامة على المستوى الوطني والمحلي، ودعم دور الإدارات المحلية في مجال حماية البيئة.\nويعد التخطيط القائم على فكرة إدخال البعد البيئي، سببا في دفع عجلة التنمية الاقتصادية في الدولة، التي تهتم مخططاتها بالجانب البيئي، فالبيئة والتنمية مفهومان مرتبطتان ارتباطا وثيقا، وكل منهما يدعم الأخر، ولذلك فكما نخطط للتنمية ينبغي أن نخطط للبيئة بشكل متزامن ومتوازن.
