This study discusses the urban and architectural attributes of (37) ancient Masajid in Mafraq governorate that were established at the early Arab Islamic ages. The study aims at identifying the locations of these Masajid, documenting, and analyzing their architectural types, building materials and structural methods. The researchers adopted the field study and the comparative descriptive methods approach to obtain information and reach to conclusions. The study pointed out that the Masajid were characterized by simplicity of form without complexity in the architectural vocabulary, consisting of three major components: the praying hall, the mehrab, and the pulpit (menbar), while some other Masajid consisted of other components, such as the minaret and a place for wudoo. Despite the obvious similarity in building materials and construction methods, the difference in the periods of construction, the political circumstances and the natural environment, affected the production of different forms and relatively varied architectural styles of these Masajid. The study recommends that the concerned parties, conserve these Masajid and set up plans to document and restore them to maintain their original function and their mortal message The study also recommends to benefit from these sites in religious tourism to Mafraq governorate residents, encourage the concerned researchers in the Islamic architecture and architects to deduce the concepts of these Masajid, and direct them to benefit from early Moslems' experiences in designing Masajid, in accordance with the Islamic teachings and rules, and in response with their major functions and requirements of the era and novelty, apart from exaggeration and lavishness, relying on the available natural resources, materials and crafts.
