المستخلص: Dans cet essai, nous essaierons de faire ressortir tout ce qui relève de la symbolique de la Nature dans le Malentendu d’Albert Camus ; une pièce théâtrale en trois actes, écrite en 1944, et qui fait partie de la « Trilogie de l’Absurde ». En lisant cette pièce, nous avons pu organiser les éléments de la nature en deux catégories paradoxales : ceux qui se réfèrent au Nord, et ceux qui représentent le Sud (ou l’Algérie); en les classifiant ainsi, nous examinerons par la suite leur dimension symbolique, pour enfin les mettre en relation avec la philosophie de l’absurde chez Camus ; une philosophie expliquée essentiellement dans son ouvrage fondateur le Mythe de Sisyphe, et mise sous des forms littéraires différentes dans des oeuvres qui ont assuré la célébrité de Camus comme l’Etranger et Caligula.

In this essay, we will try to bring out everything that belongs to the symbolism of Nature in Albert Camus' misunderstanding; a theatrical play in three acts, written in 1944, which is part of the "Trilogy of the Absurd". In reading this piece, we have been able to organize the elements of nature into two paradoxical categories: those that refer to the North, and those that represent the South (or Algeria); by classifying them in this way, we will examine their symbolic dimension, to finally put them in relation with the philosophy of the absurd in Camus; a philosophy essentially explained in his seminal work, The Myth of Sisyphus, and put it under different literary forms in works that have ensured the celebrity of Camus as the Stranger and Caligula.
