المستخلص: الاقتصاد المعرفي مجال تنموي جديد بدأ منذ فترة قريبة، أخذت تتوجه نحوه كثير من المدن حول العالم محققة نتائج اقتصادية وتنموية وبيئية ممتازة؛ الأمر الذي شجع مدناً أخرى لتحذو حذوها، خاصة ونحن نعيش في القرن الحادي والعشرين الذي يعد قرن المعرفة ومدن المعرفة.
يناقش هذا البحث أهمية الاقتصاد المعرفي لحل المشكلات الاقتصادية والتنموية والاجتماعية في المدينة المعاصرة، ويهدف بصورة أساسية إلى إيضاح إمكانية تحويل مدينة تعز إلى مدينة معرفة يقوم اقتصادها على الإنتاج المعرفي والبحث العلمي، وذلك وفق منهجية بحثية قائمة على دراسة نظرية لمفهوم الاقتصاد المعرفي وانعكاساته على الاستراتيجيات التخطيطية للتشكيل العمراني والوظيفي لمدينة المعرفة، مع دراسة تحليلية لبعض أمثلة مدن المعرفة، وكذا دراسة تحليلية لمقومات وإمكانيات مدينة تعز للسير في هذا الاتجاه.
يقدم البحث تصوراً لآلية تساعد إدارة المدينة في عملية التحول نحو الاقتصاد المعرفي، وأيضاً مقترحاً لتحويل جامعة تعز والمنطقة المحيطة بها إلى مدينة معرفة، كبداية لتوجه المدينة نحو الاقتصاد المعرفي. كما أن هذا البحث يعد نقطة انطلاق لمناقشة فكرة – تعز مدينة معرفة – على الواقع ومساعدة إدارة مدينة تعز في وضع إستراتيجية خاصة بها لتكون مدينة معرفة، وتحقق مبادئ المشاركة المجتمعية والتنمية المستدامة التي تطمح إليها.

The knowledge economy is a new development field that began recently. Many cities around the world are moving towards it, achieving excellent economic, developmental and environmental results. This has encouraged other cities to follow suit, especially as we live in the 21st century, which is the century of knowledge and cities of knowledge.
This research discusses the importance of the knowledge economy to solve the economic, developmental and social problems in the contemporary city. It aims mainly to clarify the possibility of transforming the city of Taiz into a knowledge city whose economy is based on knowledge production and scientific research, according to a research methodology based on theoretical study based on The concept of the knowledge economy and its implications on planning strategies for the urban and functional formation of the city of knowledge, along with an analytical study of some examples of knowledge cities, as well as an analytical study of the components and possibilities of the city of Taiz to proceed in this direction. The research presents a vision of a mechanism that will help the city administration in the process of transformation towards the knowledge economy, and also a proposal to transform the University of Ta'izz and its surrounding area into a knowledge city, as the beginning of the city's move towards the knowledge economy. This research is also a starting point for discussing the idea of “Taiz, the knowledge City” in reality and helping the Taiz city administration develop its own strategy to be a knowledge city and to achieve the principles of community participation and sustainable development that it aspires to.
