|b This study tries to prove that population increase is not always an obstacle to development but on the contrary it may have a positive impact on the development process. Such a positive impact depends, indeed, on how the country tackles the issue of promoting human capital through improving the demographic characteristics of its population. What really makes population increase an obstacle to development is the failure of the country's policies of education, training, health ... etc. \ Therefore, this study tackles the following issues: \ 1.\ What are the reasons that explain the poor characteristics of human capital? \ 2.\ The lessons that could be derived from the experience of China in sustainable economic development. \ 3.\ How Egypt can benefit from these lessons of China's experience in ameliorating and better employing the Egyptian human capital? Attempting to provide answers to this last question, the study concludes with suggested policies and recommendations to achieve the aim of enhancing human capital in Egypt as well as efficient employment of it within the context of sustainable economic development.
